Bears.

     Here's where we were going to try and see a bear, starting with this climb up a hill...


     ...to where a group had gathered to wait for the fog to burn off.






    The fog did finally clear up, and we got to see a grizzly bear and her cub out in the field; one of the watchers thought they were about 400 yards away. You could see them quite clearly through Sandi's binoculars and some other watcher's scopes, but I couldn't bring them in close enough with my medium-length lens. We are looking out into the Hayden Valley, where we watched them for almost a half hour before they ambled off behind a ridge. What a treat!



     I took this picture, my favorite of the entire vacation, while we were waiting on the bears. The  Yellowstone River at sunrise:
