Waiting for Great Fountain.

Because we'd heard that Great Fountain's eruption was predicted, we drove just a mile or so south from Fountain Paint Pots and returned a second time to one-way Firehole Lake Drive. Great Fountain doesn't erupt often (every nine to fifteen hours) but is predictable to within an hour or two based on the duration of its last eruption. We waited; that's White Dome in the background.

Sandi's always said that she hoped when she got older she'd care less about what people thought about her. The fact that she's holding an umbrella in the sun, with a walkie-talkie hooked to her shirt, and a geyser book in her hand tells me that finally happened.
