Because we'd heard that Great Fountain's eruption was predicted, we drove just a mile or so south from Fountain Paint Pots and returned a second time to one-way Firehole Lake Drive. Great Fountain doesn't erupt often (every nine to fifteen hours) but is predictable to within an hour or two based on the duration of its
last eruption. We waited; that's White Dome in the background.
