Friday, August 29th.

I've been working on this photoblog for a month now--about a post a day, as it turns out--and we're just leaving Old Faithful. In 2012, we, not knowing any better, had only one day in the upper, middle, and lower geyser basins; this time we had four and filled them to the brim. The highlights: Riverside, Great Fountain, Spa, Grotto, and Beehive Geysers, Grand Prismatic Spring, Fountain Paint Pots, Firehole Spring... and Huckleberry ice cream on the deck of the Inn.

But Onward! cries the Tour Director. First picture of the day, Friday, August 29th, checking out of the Snow Lodge cabins. Goodbye, Upper Geyser Basin.

We are on our way north to the Tower/Roosevelt area for three nights in the Roosevelt Lodge cabins. As planned, we're going to see stuff along the way, starting with Black Sand Basin, where we got to see Emerald Pool, Green Spring, and an eruption of Cliff Geyser:

     Still foggy...

...but the sun is burning through.

Just up the road, Biscuit Basin. Reading the info board:
